Dick Beal is by far one of the most respected and recognizable advocates and supporters of soccer in the Rochester area. He has been actively involved in the soccer community for 33 years, contributing as an administrator and more importantly, as a coach in a multitude of capacities dedicated to the development of youth players. His involvement began with coaching his son Rick in the Rochester Mavericks Soccer Club, the club for which he served as president for 23 years of its existence. Over that time span, he continued to coach in the club in all boys’ age divisions, as well as serve as a coach in the NYSWYSA Olympic Development Program, a program that he strongly believes in and supports. After the Rochester Mavericks Soccer Club dissolved, Dick joined the Rochester Junior Rhinos Soccer Club in 1999. Since then, he has coached in the club in the younger age divisions and served as its Vice President. Certainly the highlight of his coaching involvement with the Rochester Junior Rhinos Soccer Club was his selection as the 2005 US Youth Soccer Boys National Coach of the Year, the first time this honor was bestowed on a coach in the NYSWYSA.
